The first half of the book consists of Lomax's pertinent observations about the group and its impact on the larger movement for social justice taking place in the United States at that time, while the second half features the full transcripts of two speeches given by the Hon. He makes a few predictions concerning the future of the NOI that didn't pan out the way he had foreseen, but this inevitable for anyone who isn't a prophet. Lomax is not looking at this movement retrospectively, as most books on this topic must do instead he writes in a way that makes the NOI seem vividly relevant.
